Reminders come to us in all sorts of places and for myself it was yesterday as I packed my groceries into my box at the health food store. I saw this little hippy-dippy quote (sorry, but we all know that's true) and it brought me back to one of my most basic philosophies and deeper questions to ask and ponder. How we treat our bodies directly correlates to our mind state. Not always, but often enough. Often enough to give it our time and precious attention. What do we feed ourselves? What is the deeper message behind what and how we eat? I believe that when we are reverent about our food choices (Notice! I didn't say rigid!) we are paying the ultimate act of kindness to ourselves. I read this the other day in Marianne Williamson book-here's the ultimate trick we can play on ourselves. When we reward our selves with unhealthy food (for those fleeting moments of glory) we trick ourselves into thinking we are being kind to ourselves, but in reality this is the ULTIMATE way of disgracing ourselves. When we treat our bodies like garbage containers, our psyche follows. So, I encourage you to take a moment today and tomorrow and HONOR yourself through healthy nourishment. See what mind state then emerges.
